We are trying to get in touch with NIPSCO to determine what level Kelvin these lights are. It appears they are VERY bright. We know about the new lights on Ogden Road (1 on the hill near Sherri Asby’s house and 1 at the corner of Ogden Rd. and Ogden Ct.) and 1 light on Lupine Lane. A bit of history on this topic: In 2016, a lighting task force was formed by the Environmental Advisory Board of OD. They researched the effect of light pollution on our health and comfort as well as on our local wildlife. They researched the number and placement of all the street lights in OD. They worked with NIPSCO to retrofit our streetlights to 3000K (instead of 4000K which is what they originally proposed) LED lights in 2022 and to possibly eliminate some of our street lights.
